I have been looking, without success for a copy of the Kirpichnikov article about mace-heads. Can somebody please help me out here? I'd really like to see the entire article...

to be exact his aricle on 'maces' is as you may or may not know just one section as part of his whole article in the periodical 'archaeology of the USSR' its the 2nd of three article he wrote and published in 1966 and 1971

volume 1 is swords and sabres, 2, the one you want covers the other melee weapons, maces spears flails axes etc, the 3rd is purely for defensive gear. helmets maile and shields etc.

as for where to get it.. thats a tough one, also it helps that mos of the suff can only be found on google if you search using russian characters, there is only a fraction of this sort of stuff in english language sites.

however i dont know where to find it online, however one of he university libraries in the middle of my ciy has kirpitchnikovs stuff in hard copy so ive just been using that up till now..

Well someone sent me a PM with several links. Bad news is, it's all in Cyrillic. Good news is, the illustrations told me what I wanted to know.
