Messer on 14th cen sculpture
Im looking for more info on the attached sculpture. His clothes are very early to mid 14th cen but his knife looks very much like a later messer. Does anyone know of a good original of this type of messer from the 14th cen or other artwork depicting similar messers from this time?

Interesting. So when would this type of bag be in use and what details are used for dating it?

Based on the looks of the hood and the loose tunic I'd say mid 14th century rather than at the end of that century. The coif are also seldomly found in art after the early-mid 14th century.

That is what i thought as well. And this type of purse begins to appear around the mid 1300s if im not misstaken. But the quite big messer is still somewhat unusual from most of the mid 14th cen art i have looked at. So back to my original query; does anyone have other sources of such messers from this time?
