A Summer 2011 project.
Sorry for the bad quality of the last pic. I cannot take new pictures, since the scabbard and sword are back to their home.
A friend asked me to make a scabbard for his civilian smallsword. Fine triangular blade. On the right a soldier sword. The hilt his probably cast from an early 18th c. original. I made a wood scabbard covered with thin dark red leather.
For more versatility, I decided to make a brass throat with a hook, but also ring studs to hang the scabbard on a G. G. G. Godwin belt clip.
My friend Henry Boucher made the studs and rings, and helped me at brazing the brass parts.
Great work, David. Do you take commissions for work like this or are these sorts of projects just occasional?
I agree, really good looking work!

Thank you. This was occasional. I've got to make jigs and dies that would make the fabrication of scabbards for the most common smallswords blades easier and less time consumming.
Thanks again for your interest. Your can email me if you have specific questions.
