Bearded Axes
Here's a few pics of bearded axes that I have done. While they are probably not quite as authentic reproductions as the recent beautiful examples by Eric McHugh and Owen Bush, I make them more "in the style of" rather than a repro. They have been extremely popular and proven very durable with excellent edge-holding ability. Handles are usually ash or hickory with a tear-drop cross-section. Overall length is about 23" with an edge of about 5". I differentially harden the blades for a harder edge and softer body.
Comments/Criticism welcome.

whats the weight of the head? (it seems that not many makers actually list the weight of their axeheads, a very annoying thing if your shopping for an axehead and trying to meet certain requirements for reenactment.. i.e if i want a danish axe with a 6 foot haft, the head needs to be 700 grams or less (a pound is roughly 500 grams fyi)
