Fellow forumites,
Is anyone going to the SCA Pennsic War ? It is going to be their 40th anniversary this year. I have been a few times,
on and off since 1989, so I know the scene, but I find I have a good time with friends, and occasionally do meet some
participants who have really invested much time and effort into their craft, or costumes, or encampments.
So, I was wondering if any of our community will be showing up this year, either as merchants or campers. I myself
usually camp with merchant friends near the Barn, and should have a few cold beers in the cooler.
I'll be at my booth, by the corner of the barn.
I'll be out in WMA in SCA area from about the 5-9th with the Order of the Seven Hearts. Tom Leoni is teaching a few classes.
Hi Chris!
I didn't know you were going - great!
I'll be there the second week. In addition to teaching two classes, I'll be helping to man the Revival Clothing/Freelance Academy Press booth.
Folks interested in the historic fighting arts should come to our Tuesday evening Author Soiree, starting at 7:30pm.
Yours,
Christian

Chris,
What gear should one bring for the classes ( fencing mask, plastron, gloves, cup...) ? And are there particular requirements to sign up for them ?
Give my best to Tom Leoni.
Cheers,
Jean-Carle

Which class are you referring to I think he is teaching several different ones? I have not seen the schedule yet. Usually for a training class it is good to have the appropriate tools and protective gear as loner gear might not be at hand. Let me know which class(es) you are talking about and I will ask Tom for specifics.
We'll be there in our usual spot on the "Street of Dreams", which is off the end of the barn opposite the Coopers' Store.
We'll have our usual selection of historical clothing and accessories, along with a few new things and some jousting equipment.
We open on Wednesday next week.

Chris,
I don't have a schedule either, but I presume he would be giving classes in rapier related subjects. I have a few pieces
fitted with schlager blades, so I'll bring them along just in case. JC

Just checked the schedule... looks like a class on Fiore Spear, information on Italian Judicial Duel and a Bolognese sword and buckler class. Ken has some rapier classes on the schedule. Greg sword in one hand. Christian has a messer class...... looks like I won't have to worry about staying busy.
Looks like there will be all kinds of fun.

Hello,
My school will also be present and teaching classes. We are going to be hanging out in the WMAinSCA camp most of the rest of the time.
The Pennsic University program has all of the WMAinSCA classes.
Kunstbruder's classes are listed under:
Steven Hirsch
Josh Watson
Bill Frisbee
(Note that there is an error for my groups classes. We won't be teaching classes until Sunday the 7th.)
It'll be my first year at Pennsic as well, so woo hoo!
Cheers,
Steven
