Hi Guys,
My interest at the moment is focusing the 1330-1350 period. I was wondering if any of you had any pictures you might have of archeological finds that show longswords thought to be from this period. I know this is quite early, I am thinking of mainly of XVIa's (similar to the Albion Crecy http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/alb ... cy-xvi.htm). I know I have seen loads of pictures from museums posted before but I am having a hard time finding any now.
On a related note does any one know of any Longswords of this type that had type W (http://www.myArmoury.com/feature_oakeshott3.html) pommels? such as on this modern repro http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/joh ... lingen.htm The only examples I have had a hint of so far are on 'arming' swords.
From what I understand this pommel type and blade type co exist in time and I would like to know if it is reasonable for them to be featured together.
Cheers,
Dan.
