I've seen several antiques with the grooves on the fuller ridges like this rapier from Patrick Barta, but I think this is the first reproduction I have seen with this detail. I cant believe the price on this thing. 750 euros seems quite cheap IMO, for a pice like this. Are there anyone on the forums that own a Barta rapier? Do his swords handle as sweet as they look?

I've looked at that one too and been confounded by the price. It looks like a very detailed piece for the money. Considering Barta is a custom maker you could probably tell him how you want it to handle. Many if not all of the swords on his homepage are replicas from a specific original. There is a viking sword that weighs four pounds but that's beacuse the original is an equally massive sword
Yes, his prices are pretty low for the immense quality of work. 750 EUR works out to be about $900 USD. That ain't bad at all!

Yeah, the vikings are a bit heavy for me, at least. But not unhistorically heavy. In Jan Petersens book, I think the heaviest viking sword was listed as about 4,2 lbs, while some where under 2 lbs.
