Céad míle fáilte,
I came across an interesting piece of maille neck protection referred to as a 'standard' or a 'pixane', the former name being seemingly more common. I tried to use the search function that we have on the forums, but just imagine how many entries I got for 'riveted maille standard'(a lot, none concerning the actual thing), and then for 'pixane'(a nice round zero), hence I decided to take it to a new topic.
Anywho, here's what I'm thinking of:

(pictures taken from Krzysztof Świątkiewicz's site http://rivetedchainmail.pl , the best riveted maille manufacturer I know of, I hope he won't mind... *gulp*)
And here's what I need: the earliest possible date in which those were introduced(they were most common in XVth century I was told, but I hope not exclusive to it), and any type of reference material from around said date, i.e. archeological findings, iconography, effigies. With all my google-fu mustered for this cause I could not find any sufficient info, as if everyone knew that standards were in use, but couldn't tell me where they have seen one except for replicas. Business as usual, I fail after hours of research -> I turn to you guys and often get a satisfying answer in a matter of minutes :)
Eternal gratitude to anyone who could help.
Sláinte,
Chris
