I am not an expert, in fact I am not even an amature as far as these things are concrened, but I do not think that sword is "old". The caligraphy is chinese, of some older script type (though I am no scholar of chinese language, but I recognise the first character from other decerative reproductions) Looks like it is brass (or maybe bronze, I guess) and reminds me of reproductions of older bronzes that I used to see when I lived in Taiwan. Those tended to look more "aged" hough and were treated to have more verdigras on them. This looks like a very new reproduction of a very old dagger, and probably made to sell to tourists. In fact, now that I look at it "decrative letter opener" is the term that pops to mind
But that is just my totaly baseless opinion, hopefully someone who actually has a clue will chime in.

If I have to take a shot (or stab) in the dark, I'd say that it's a moderately old (as in before 2000) replica of an ancient Egyptian or Levantine bronze sword--except if it's a 20th- or late 19th-century ceremonial stuff from one of those secret societies.
