I'm posting some pics of my new custom type XII sword made by Robert Moc. It has a style 1 cross and a type E pommel. The blade has an iron core with steel edges welded on and silver inlay on both sides. The scabbard is wood core lined with wool. The chape is bronze.
Blade length: 30 inches
Overall length: 36 inches
Weight: just under 3 pounds
This sword is a hefty sword. It feels great in the swing though. It would likely be a devastating cutter! It's like a razor towards the top third of the blade. The middle is sharp and the bottom third of the blade has a dull edge. The grip has a spiral wrap and is squared off. I thought it would be uncomfortable when I saw it but it's great. I am already thinking of another sword for Mr.Moc to make for me since I like this one so much!

Sweet Tim.
Was there any particular inspiration for this sword? The twisted grip (very nice) and later-form cocked-hat pommel look familiar, maybe one of those Naumburg Cathedral swords?
Cocked hat pommels are my third favorite after BN and latter-day lobated pommels - I've had a couple that came and went, but really must get hold of a better one some time.
Congratulations on yet another lovely custom piece!

is the first time I see a hexagon with XII. There are other examples of XII with hexagonal section in our museums. Some pics would be appreciated.
It sounds like a mighty blade. The complex looks like a big sword

Very nice sword Tim, Robert did an excellent job. I think I just might have to go on his waiting list for a piece of my own
Is that a flat on the blade or a shallow fuller? Turned out real nice. Funney how the simple hilt shapes just do it for me sometimes.

Sorry for my poor photography. It is a fuller. The blade is a pretty standard type XII. I love this hilt. Not enough of the oddball hilt types out there in my opinion! Here's another picture that Mr.Moc took. You can see the fuller a little better.
