As some of you have noticed (we have gotten a few emails) we are making some changes in our website. The albionarmorers.com url is gradually being replaced by albion-swords.com.
In September, we plan to decommission the albionarmorers.com site (except for a main/ index page) with all links going to albion-swords.com. Until then, your old bookmarks will still work.
Why? We feel albion-swords.com better fits our emerging identity. We are a sword company, first and formost, and we feel that our web presence should highlight that.
It may cause some inconvenience for a while, and we apologize for that. It is hard to switch these kinds of things (we've made a few errors already and feel free to point out dead links!) but we feel in the end this will be better.
Thanks for your patience!
Best,
Howy
Howy,
Does the name change indicate a change in your product line. E.g., will you still be offering your own helm and armour products plus those from Mercenary's Tailor, International Steelcrafts, Deepeeka...? Or will you be dropping items?

All of this is still in discussion Steve. The Mercenary's Tailor will NOT be phased out - but we are not sure right now about the Indian products. We are going to be in discussions about this. I will try to remember to get back to this post and let you know when we decide which way we are going.

Your Indian products are just your axes right?
And even though your decision makes sense. Albion Armorers sounds a bit better than Albion Swords.

Some of the helmets are made in India

Albion Arms sounds better than either one :D
Let me clarify a few things that I was apparently too vague on before...
The name of the company will remain the same -- Albion Armorers. The url and such have changed to make the search engines happier (hopefully)...
The only products we have made in India are axe heads and the older-model armor pieces (not the Lars pieces or MT). We have been slowly phasing out the older armor pieces and have plans in the future to make the axe heads here.
Best,
Howy

I'm assuming this includes the roman armor, helms, etc? Seems kind of a shame unless maybe MT picks up the lorica segmentia et al. From what I've read, this version is one of the most accurate available unless you make your own.
Cheers,

The segmentata is one we will probably keep going (since we designed it with the invaluable input from Matt Amt) --only some parts are made in India and the rest (including assembly) are done by Lars here.
We may begin offering more Albion Mark armour in the future in the same way, with only some rough parts manufactured elsewhere but all assembly and finishing done here.
The problem with the Indian-made complete pieces are the missed details -- even when we send them the design specs. And the Roman helms, which are shipped to us "finished" always require revisions and refinishing to make them more accurate and wearable. Like with the swords, the devil is in the details.

Well, since you asked, I just happened to notice that on the new page for the Baron, the link to the antique XIIa isn't up. It's still there on the old site, I guess it just hasn't been mirrored to the new one.
That, and there's just too many great swords to choose from - to paraphrase the Emperor in Amadeus, "There are only so many swords the eye can ogle in the course of an evening." ;)
Shalom!
