I am going to be making a viking scabbard for my Del Tin 2100. I have been toying with design ideas, but I have not been able to come up with anything I like. However I was searching around and found a place that is selling some dark green and brown dyed stingray skin hides. Now, other than with some basket hilts and some schiavones, I have never seen rayskin or shagreen used on European blades. I did see an "aged" paul chen practical viking sword that had an acid etched blade and light blue grey shagreen handle. Just wanted to know if shagreen on a viking sword (or scabbard) was out of the question for that age and culture.
