Just a quick question...
Is it possible to add an inlay to an already finished sword? For example could I take an Albion Knight to a jeweller and get them to inlay a silver or gold phrase in it? I realise it wouldn't be historically accurate, but I'm thinking more in terms of adding that personal touch for a gift.
Cheers guys. :)
Possible is possible, and even historically accurate: other than the iron-inlayed blades of the north blacksmiths there are a good number of exaples of gold and silver inlayed swords from south europe, often with very accurate and long phrases.

Maybe you have to find the right goldsmith, or one with the patience to try
UPDATE:
There is something in "Sword in Hand" by the Oakeshott, pag. 40 (vikings blades) and pag. 49 (knigthly swords)
