Dear fellow forumites,
I have the pleasure of escaping Boston for a week to spend time in the "slightly warmer" Dallas, TX. While I am in Texas I was wondering if there are any museums in the Dallas/Forth-Worth area displaying medieval arms and armor. Any suggestions and comments are welcome.
Alexi
Alexi,
I (along with a few other forumites here) am in the DFW area. Depending on when you come, I'd be happy to host a fellow arms enthusiast, though admittedly there's not all too much to see on that note. (I'll be gone to Hawaii and Scotland for parts of this month.)

Well, I'm in Oklahoma, so i can't exactly answer for museums, sorry. I can, however, tell you that there is some sort of medieval restaurant, with jousting and stuff, the stories I have heard sound a little corny to me, but hey, it might be interesting just to go.

Thanks Ruel,
I did figure that there is not much to see museum wise, but I thought I'd ask. After all I have lived in dallas for few years so I have some (but not all-encompassing) idea of what the place has to offer.
I just might use the opportunity to meet other DFW sword enthusiasts the next time I come by. This visit is almost over.
Cheers,
Alexi
I live in Dallas as well and I dont know of any place that would be of great interest, in the arms and armour area anyway! :(
Lots of bars and exotic dancers, but no arms and armour museums! I demand parity!
Not that I have anything against exotic dancers mind you!

Alexi,
I'm sorry I misunderstood that you were here already! You could have come with me and Tom this past Saturday to the Texas Scottish Festival. Nothing of the museum sort there, but there were multiple Museum Replicas pieces on hand which we examined in detail. A good number of them left us with very favorable impressions, too!
Tom,
Here's a little "parity" for you -- a bellydancer I met when she came to Dallas in February. She's even agreed to work with me on a sword&bellydance project next year! :D

Wow....yum.... maybe i should make another trip down to Dallas :P
as for museums, You and Russ could probably start your own...
Meow! Ruel comes through again!
Yeah, while some of the scholarly types here labor over measuring antiques in museums or interpreting old manuscripts, I have shouldered the heavy task of socializing with bellydancers who use swords. It is the cross I am destined to bear. ;)
Chris,
She's actually up in New York. :( You should have seen her (and all her bellydancing companions!) when their show came to town. That, my friend, was entertainment. Lucky for you, I got their DVD, so we can watch the next time you're here. Don't know if Anna will let Russ watch with us, though... :surprised:
