Hello to everyone, and thanks for the advices about my first sparring sword...
In my group there is a person who was the weapons expert before me (I know, we are severely understrength if I am the armourer) and he own several replica of not outstanding finishing. One of that he described as "royal" for the shape of the pommel: a square with the end shaped like a large saw. A bit like Geibig's Type 9 hammered flat.

Question: there is any evidence of a similiar classification? I don't want to snub him, but I don't think we can teach this to the people who attend us, and I don't think there is a real classification of sword's use based on the pommels. A system for dating or placing, but not more...
