Custom Langseax by Eric McHugh
My custom langseax made by Eric McHugh arrived today. I have been frothing over this one and it doesn't disappoint! It is based on the seax of Beagnoth. The grip is ebony and the fittings are lightly etched iron. The blade is steel. It is razor sharp and the finish is *gasp* perfect! My poor photos cannot do justice to this piece. Here are the stats:

total length: 32.5 inches
grip length: 8 inches
PoB: 5 inches
weight: 2ish? pounds

This seax can easily be used with two hands. I think a cut would be devastating if it were used this way. In one hand it feels great. It has a lot of follow through! Overall, it's a fantastic piece........The downloadable pic is a full length shot!

WOW. that is sexy ! So when are you shipping it to me. :p  ( Obviously joking but if you want to give it to me I wouldn't say no. ;) :D )

Very nice lines and great aesthetics.
Very nice. I got a saex off of Eric some time back which, despite being a mere 12 inches, still has a certain presence. I can only imagine what this must be like. I particularly like the waisted grip, a detail that I don't think we see enough of, but which would be essential to keep the hand in place when thrusting.
Nice piece. I especially like the shaping of the blade. Great proportions/lines on the piece overall.
Nice langsax! Looks like the measurements are right in line with the original. I might take issue with the iron fittings on this style blade, but I must admit they look good on her... :D

Is it a full flat grind with no secondary bevel? I bet it's a wicked cutter...

No secondary bevel at all. It is masterfully done! I haven't cut with it and, to be honest, the finish is sooooo perfect that I may never do so!
