A Cut Iron Small Sword
France around 1760. Double edged, thrusting blade with a flattened mid rib and floral etchings on the ricasso on both sides. The iron knucklebow hilt is cut in relief with rocaille, flowering vines, and seated cupids in oval cartuches on remnants of a gilded background. Original grip cover with brass band and iron wire wrapping. Length 99 cm.

A cut iron dress sword
French, ca. 1760. Three-edged blade with deep reverse groove, florally etched on both sides, with vestiges of gilding and the motto of the Order of the Garter "Honi soit qui mal y pense". The iron hilt (guard loose) richly chiselled with rocaille, flowery tendrils and trophy bundles over a granulated gold-damascened background. Original square grip wrapping of variously corded silver wire with an iron band set with small golden blooms. Cast silver braided ferrules. Length 86.5 cm.
