I was wondering if there are any historical examples of Finnish Swords from the dates between 500 A.D.- 1500 A.D.?
I think the most famous would be the "Suontaka sword", an Oakeshott type X with a Petersen type AE hilt found in a woman's grave in Suontaka, Häme, dating from the mid-11th Century. Albion's the Valkyrja is inspired by it.
PS. There are several more Viking age ones, as well as a high quality picture of this one, featured in the photobook Viikinkien perintö by István Rácz, if you can find it.

Check out this thread for a Medieval type.
