I have a proto-mortuary sword of ca. 1650. I have an appropriate scabbard body and chape and I know what kind of decoration I need on those. I'm somewhat lost when it comes to the mouth of the scabbard, however. Should it have a locket and stud, just a stud or a "clip" (I've forgottent the correct term)? As always, details and photos are helpful and if any of you know how to create and secure a stud or clip, that info would be of great value. I can probably figure those out for myself, but I'd rather know from the start if I'm on the right track.
