thank you , there is three years of work on it. I have made some parts myself to be more close to archeological pieces. And all the armour parts are specificly designed for my kit , none parts are buy on the armour market on internet.all are designed by armourer on archeological finds or manuscript or effigies.

Great kit! I really like the roundels at the shoulders and elbows. I am going to incorporate very similar ones with a star instead of a flower. Another example of how long research really makes a differance. Would you mind to share some more detailed pictures of your weapons and shield and some of your references.

Hey Julian ! Shoulders and elbow roundels are copied from Jhon Blanchefront effigie in Church of St Lawrence , Alvechurch, Worcestershire dated to 1350.
I Unfortunately have now more pictures from shield . Only from my baselard,that I make myself. Sword is created by a telented french sword maker : Gael Fabre. The falchion on second picture is not mine.

the shield design is inspired by a picture of "le roman de la rose" a french manuscript (1350) by Guillaume de Lorris

Did you make the armour yourself?

Yes! I made it in the weekends when I had access to a forge. The materials for the plates and sword is obtained on a scrapyard (sword blade is forged from a rail rake rod) and the maille is made out of fence wire.

A very impressive first project. I really like the skirt of scales though the plate must have been a much greater challenge. There is simply too little hip defence arround in 14th century armour recreation and Maille of fence wire is a nice idea as well.

Very, very nice kit. I have to say you have got a great look for the mid 14th century going on there. Are you part of a group over there? Very nice work. Do you have any photos of the parts themselves? I'd love to see the items themselves.

perfect mix of mail, plate and splinted armour.

I am working on my own 1340s harness as well. Just need to get a helmet hammered out (literally) then I will be done. Love the mid 14th best period for reenactment ever! The mixing of the various armours and the development going on it just so neat.

Really like it! Pretty good work. Figure appears to me as a lower echelon professional warrior that has prevailed in many hard campaigns.

I pretty much got involved in this hobby when I was in high school ... that was a century or two ago!

I am one step away from finishing my harness- helmet will be somewhat like yours. It is always nice to see what others are doing. If you are ok I would like to use some of your photos for a project I am working on if that is ok.

I am working on a kettle hat as an alternative helmet. I have a great helm and am working on a bascinet with great helm like visor and with the kettle I'll have a nice kit I can swap parts out with as I feel inclined.

If I am ever over in your area I'll have to see if I can stop by one of your events. My french is ok when reading but I'll work on cleaning it up before visiting! Much better at Anglo-Norman/French!

No I've been making helmets for some time so I am ok on that front. The one I am working at now is a hybrid between the Taymouth Hours, Holkham Bible an a few other helmets of the second quarter of the 14th.

I was going to use the photo in a collection of well done living history examples for a project on what the right look is for specific soldiers at specific times. It helps especially new members to living history get away from other images they might find online that do not help but are so much more common than well done examples.

If you are on facebook look me up. I have most of my harness there in my photo gallery. I used to have a flickr account but had some security issues with it so I had to jettison it.

Thanks for the invite! I hope to make Agincourt for the event in 2015 but we'll see!
