Nice sceath Matthew!
I like how you went with the germanic style sceath. We don't see these reproduced very often and variation is always a pleasure.

Incidentally I've made the blade for one of the other german seax finds, the one with the double fuller from Brandenburg, and fitted it with a hybrid Gotland/ Valsgärde handle and fittings and I'm making a top seam plated Valsgärde scabbard for it. Originally it probably had something more like your type of sceath.

No finished sceath yet on mine, but here's some photos of the completed knife.
Fittings are all brass to emulate the look of Arsenic bronze (which no one wants to make nowdays because they value health and staying alive). The blade is highly tempered high carbon steel ground to a triangle cross section and 5 mm thick at the back and triple annealed old school until the colours creep from the back to almost reach the edge. Back plate nails are forged square like on the find I based it on.
I put a lot fo research into this one. Though it's a hybrid combination of several finds every detail and shape is documented in photos of viking age finds.

Blade and fittings -every little piece, are all hand made by me, well I didn't raise the cow the leather cord is from, or grow the curly Birch tree for the handle... ;)

That thin leather cord is just a leftover from making neck thongs for pendants I used to try out the ring function. It'll be replaced with something a bit sturdier.

This started out as a rondel dagger that I made from a Darkwood Armory kit, (the piece is somewhere in this thread) I just wasn't happy so I made this...
The tang just wasn't long enough so I had to make the grip in two parts and use a coupling nut to join the tang thread to the butt plate bolt thread. The blade still could do with working, originally it had a slight set in it so this time around I ground it out.
the whole piece has come up alright though I don't know if I like it or not! I would have liked to have had some better tools to work with to achieve more, but in the end I got sick of working on it!..
The grip is Oak, I will proberly try and make it go darker with linseed oil/polish..

This is my scabbard made for a John Barnett Lionheart sword. Not a good sword by any means but was fun creating a scabbard for it.

It is all hand made with hardwood core, cotton lined, antique brown leather wrap and and harness. The chape is made from leather as I am finding it difficult to source steel or bronze chapes at the moment. If anyone knows a reliable source for sword and scabbard fittings, I will be most grateful.

The lower picture is in natural light the other in my kitchen but the colour is dark brown.

Wow Craig, your work is always quite impressive. What did you use for the grip? I like the green color.

wow, love the latter pattern - and the green - that's just so different. if it were infront of me at a blade show, that would be one of the works i would just have-to-have.

hear is a few more then the big bowie whih the green handle was the last knife i hade done befor i tryed the sword

I was offered a trade with a very good friend of mine a while back and when I asked him what he wanted in return he sadly said he had to sell his ballock knife I helped him out with way back since he was short on funds. So we decided I'd make him a new one and here's the result. HThe grip is elm with brass fittings and the blade was ground from spring steel and filed to shape and worked to final shape with whetstone. First project I've done in a very long time but I'm happy with the final result. It's sharp enough to shave with ;)

It was even more awesome in real life Eric. A true masterpiece. Our friend is a pretty lucky guy! Now we have to make an outfit for him to match the knife, don´t we?
