A just question :wtf: .

I for one like Armor, Horses, lances, Guns, "overgrown knitting needles", plus anything complex hilted and/or hollow-ground. Thus, I say Renaissance Armored Cav. :p ! Oh, and Russ, you once again forgot to mention that the Renaissance also saw the use of that SUV of sword-dom... the Zweihander. :D Maybe they were invented to balance out the rapiers eh?

Cheers,
I'm stickin with Romans

Nothing like traveling the ancient world under arms and bringing "civilization" to the great unwashed.
Living in Western Washington, Lot's of rain Scot, Celt, Viking or Barbarian. Celt it is. Also we aren't so fond of leafies as you might think. La Tene' era longswords, thanks. Naked or not. And spears, throwable, stabable or both.
I voted miscellaneous whiner in part in the fond memory of trying to spell " Miscellaneous " years ago and trying to find it in the dictionary when I didn't know how to spell it in the first place: Doesn't seem difficult to find " NOW "! Maybe I was stupid
" THEN " :p

Well, not an easy word if one has a touch of dyslexia.

The real reason is that I study real history and with the armour I have now I could have voted Knight: But my fantasy life is closer to fantasy, alternate history or Sci. Fi.

So I can learn and appreciate real history but when I apply it to my fantasy world I can mix and match arms and armour without the restrictions of reality. Oh, and I value keeping these two mind sets separate and not confuse the two.

I have to assume that most of us here have a " closet " fantasy life and that the true " serious " adults who don't at least fantasize a bit are probably lying to themselves or have lost the joy of being a little kid at heart. ( Even at 56   )

So, the official vote is miscellaneous whiner with a current strong Knightly interest but I used to be very interested in ancient history including the Romans and Dark ages. Oh, and modern weaponery is also a center of interest.
Jedi Master.

I can't decide between Knight and Renaissance man, and also I'll whine that there's no category for Renaissance longswords, so I guess that puts me in the whiner group. Which comes as absolutely no surprise, really. :)
I prolly should have chosen Celt, because running around naked would certainly be the cheapest kit to assemble, but since I live up here in the frozen tundra of Maine, and my only sword is a Gaddhjalt, I gotta vote Viking.

Kenton
The Celts, we made gorilla tactics fun... ever wonder what went through a roman soldiers mind when he saw our women on the battle field? ok other than her spear/arrow/knife/etc...

and yes you little scots are the newbies, and you can hear a knight from miles away so the obvious choice is celt... so there :D
Looking at the one sword I own, I have to go with Knight :)
Viking all the way. :D
I couldn't decide on a single category but I whine alot so I figure i'm in good company seeing come of the people in this category.
.........................................
Yep, I'm a knight. Got my wood carving of Saint George to provre it too. :p
Wannabe knight, for the 8th year in a row... :)
Russ!
In honor of my Lidkjoping/Rosneros grandparents I will claim Viking,
albeit with a strong whiff of Rus.

Doug Gentner
I voted "knight," but I'd consider myself more of a "man-at-arms."
Sure, I've got a sword, but my armor is whatever I can scrape together, and though i do all the grunt work, I'm always letting some "gallant knight" get all the glory. :wtf:
Celt all the way

I can second that...

And yep cound me in as a Celt....
Call me a knight, a Norman knight. I'm a descendant of Charlemagne so I gotta go with the Knights....though I do have a fair bit of Celt and Scottish as well....oh well, gotta pick one!
Miscellaneous Whiners
:D
Falling into the collecting of this that and the other,Miscellaneous Whiners seems most appropriate this year
Have to go with Knight. I've only got a few swords that wouldn't be appropriate for a 14th century kit. Of course, I don't have the armour or the horse...

I've also got Swedish blood in me, so maybe I should have gone with Viking. And then there is that "closet fantasy life" that Jean mentioned...

Do we need credentials to be in the whiners catagory? I'll bet I know some people who would write me a glowing (or glowering) letter of recomendation.
Scot. I'd love to brag about my collection of basket hilts and claymores, but I'm too cheap to buy them. ;)
