How sharp is "sword sharp"?
I just got an albion first generation gaddhjalt off another user here. It is my first "real" sword and I am very happy with it, except I am rather surprised at it's sharpness, or lack there of. I can run a finger up and down the blade with pressure and not get cut. It cleaves it's cardboard box easily enough, though. Is this sword rather dull, or is it supposed to be this way? Can anyone point me to some good sword sharpening articles, if that is the case?
Here's an existing thread on the concept "sword sharp": http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=1980

There are probably many more to be found through the search function. Happy hunting!
Thanks for that thread! Alot to consider. I guess I am just used to very sharp knives.
Joshua, that was the same reaction I had upon receiving my first real sword. In my ignorance I was expecting a razor sharp blade. This was an unrealistic expectation of a war sword that is meant to deal with heavy armour. Mine (a Regent)also cuts very well and penetrates with thrusts even easier, although thrusting ability has less to do with the edge sharpness than it has to do with the blade profile.

Enjoy your sword, Albion makes great weapons.
Joshua,

Yes, I believe we have all wrestled with the "is it sharp enough?" question at some point. One thing to keep in mind though, avoid touching the edge of your sword with your fingertips- that will dull it in a hurry. Instead use the surface of your finger nail- this works well and doesn't transfer corrosive human oils.

Enjoy the hobby!
Jeremy
