Acquired it when I visited a recently-opened bookstore. Picked up about $60 worth of other stuff, including a translation of Herodotus' Persian Wars, and Gwynn Jones' History of the Vikings.
I haven't had a chance to crack open the bio of Edward yet...can anyone who's read it tell me how the readability is? Boring? Too focused on non-military stuff? Etc...
Also, does anyone know if there are any inaccuracies in it or the Viking book?
Mr Goff,
Professor Jones published this work on the vikings back in 1968, so there have been many new archeological finds since then and I presume those who pursue scholarly studies should be able to point out some discrepancies, the contrary would be surprising. My copy, with my personal notes, was read back in the late seventies... and from my notes I get the sense that I enjoyed it.

Carl,
Prestwich's book I found extremely good, but I think his work is usually top notch and very conversational in a way that most academics are not. Enjoy the read. It has very good solid history told in a very good and engaging form.
