I now have both of my new Rondel daggers in hand, and thought I would share some photos of the two together.
The dagger with large rondels and the spiral metal wrap is a custom project from Arms and Armor. The blade is around 15.5 inches long and is hollow ground. The distal and profile taper and the hollow grinding make it very light. It feels a bit like a medieval ice pick.

The other dagger is a custom piece from Justin King. That blade is flat ground with fuller, and has much more blade presence - feeling much more like a very short sword.

wow, very cool. i personaly like hilt of the second dagger but the blade of the A&A is sweet. all in all you have two very classey can openers :D

I really like that Justin King piece. I notice that there is (or at least appears to be) quite a difference in grip diameters. Do you find that that difference makes much of an impact of the handling of these two pieces? Is one of them, for example, better for use with gauntlets, while the other is better without?

While the A&A piece is very nice I really like Justins work. I find the overall proportions very pleasing when seen side by side with the A&A.

Thanks guys - I am very pleased with both pieces. One interesting note about the A&A dagger: you can see how the wire is held in place in the last "hilt" shot. They drilled a hole in the metal band and puled the strands of wire through, and (I assume) sort of peened them together, and then ground/polished it smooth. Interesting!

The grips are quite different in size, but strangely, they both fit my hand well. I assume that the smaller would be better with guantlets.

I'm thinking of the A&A piece as a "sword alternative" and as a backup weapon to my glaive, and the Justin King dagger as a companion to my A&A English Longsword in a more upper class kit that I may put together someday. I'll post "weapon kit" pics when I get a chance so you guys can see what I mean and let me know what you think.

Both are beautiful Gordon, my favorite of the two is the A & A Rondel, I just got my custom Rondel Dagger from Arms & Armor a week ago Tuesday but it's not nearly as customized as yours is by any stretch!
Mine is pretty close to the standard, except that the blade is 13 1/4 inches and I think the spine stays thicker longer but I am not sure, however there is "No" false edge on my dagger and the blade terminates in one very fierce point. It also has the usual "Bob Burns" (Very Sharp) edge on the blade.

Side by side, Gordon you have two gorgeous Rondel Daggers, no two ways about it! Well Done Sir!
