I am also a very big fan of schiavone.. I've not seen an antique example that has a liner. I've seen one or two "schiavona-inspired" swords that had a liner, but these were not really shiavone, imo.
One thing to keep in mind about a schiavone is that the basket goes below the cross, enabling the cross to be fingered. Having a typical liner on there would obstruct that.
ok i dont know what it was but it looked awsome if i find a picture i will send it to you i know youl agree but your right thats why i said it looked similar to a schiavona had mated with a sabre not quite a sabre not quite a schiavona. but would you say i could find a way to safely convert a Napoleonic Cavalry sabre into a safe dueling sabre perhapse dulled aluminum? or even a tough composit? or would there be a company that could make somthing like that with a button on the tip. i know paul chen makes practical blades that are sparing safe does anyone make sabre blades like that.
Check out this hybrid with a liner.
thats it the only difference is it was a little smaller, silver and had red velvet but never the less thats it i love the way that looks almost like a scottish basket hilt but MUCH smaller. but i have another question (i should mention that i get hooked on things very quickly) where could i find somthing like the Phoenix Metal Creations Pappenheimer Sword but has a stiff fencing blade that could hold up sparring against stronger materials?
