I have a KC Viking and am wondering if anyone could suggest some good cutting targets on which to start practicing with. I have heard rumors of some of KC's blades denting when a bad cut occurred. Should I not cut with it before I find a swordsmanship class? Even so, once in a class, should I start cutting with the sword, or is the edge to soft to cut at all without fear of denting?

I don't think there's any real standard for cutting material. A lot of people use pool noodles, or water filled bottles. These are light targets and help you work on your swing. For harder targets people have used plywood, wara mats etc. I don't know that there is any optimal target. If your blade doesn't handle the light targets send it back.
Thanks for the help.
