Hello all, I'm eagerly awaiting my Viking spear to be made up by the folks at A&A, my question to any of the current owners is do you have any pics to share? I'd love to see em, also does anyone know if for any reason the shaft of the spear should break does A&A have replacement shaft's for us to remount?

I really like the axe, but it is made of cast steel and are a front heavy one to handle with one hand
and the head are something loose on the shaft, i have not try to cut anything with it yet
anyway it's looks good and i like it allot and i keep it. :D

I am becoming more and more attracted to Viking weaponry and culture, I have always been very partial to the Norse. They were such fearless warriors and adventurers, I have a couple of Viking bearded axes, one on a 30 1/2 inch haft made by Hanwei which was only glued so I cut a slot and glued in a larger wedge than the slot which I hammered and clamped in, the other is from Arms & Armor and is on a 19 inch haft and was properly wedged in when I bought it. I have a Viking hewing spear which has a 16 inch long cutting head on it, overall including pole insert portion is 25 inches, made by Windlass Steelcraft.
Also I have my new Albion Berserkr which I am totally in love with! The Arms & Armor Viking spear is real nice, I've handled it several times, it's almost always at the Bristol Renaissance Faire booth, hands down it's the best Viking spear that I have ever seen! I like my Hanwei Godfred Viking sword a lot too, but I have yet to buy the A&A Viking spear. Although I know it's just a matter of time before I buy it. You can never have too many spears ya know! :lol:
Oh, I just bought a 2nd book on the Viking Empires from Cambridge Press today and I have the Osprey Viking book.

Was the spear the Vikings primary weapon or was it an auxilary to the axe or sword?

Hi Bob, well from what i've read swords back then weren't a common thing and usually only the wealthiest owned em or you'd take it off your defeated enemy and mainly the axe and spear were the common 2 weapons mostly used by the vikings as it wasn't expensive to make and replace and the vikings always were using the axe to chop tree's down to build boats.

Thank you Eric and glad to meet you by the way. That is what I kind of figured on the sword, as only the nobility on the continent could really afford them, kind of figured the same thing for the Vikings. So it was probably a combination of Spear and Axe then?
