Here are a few photos from this past weekend meeting in Morro Bay with ElJay and a Salinas Local who is on the Himalayan Imports forum. ElJay and I have been meeting for 4 years now! (he got out of paying for lunch this time too :D Thanks Norm!) When ElJay stops by he'll have to explain what he brought this year...was really neat to see him interact with the kids and from the great way he handled them looks like a future knight is now in the works. I was surprised not to see Nathan there since given his passion for his website...but...at least I can say he has a fine Schiavona in the works! Looks like we are on for next year!

It is a very nice collection.There are at least 10 items that I want to have too :D

Geez, he does have a very nice collection there. The two piece skull close helm (with the fluted skull and slightly backswept peak i'm guessing french) is especially nice.

I'm with Allan. That French-style Close Helmet is to die for! WOW! :eek:

The other stuff is pretty sweet, too, BTW. :D

That's the first glimpse I've had of the schiavona and I'm thrilled to see it. It's exactly what I was hoping to see!

I sure wish you guys would meet up someday up here in Northern California :) I'm not able to stray much from these parts now days.

Hey Nathan, your Schiavona feels as good as it looks too! It looks like next year it will be held in Atascadero at the Santa Lucia Sportsmans Association so we can also shoot pistol, rifle, trap and skeet along with having a sword/knife/armor/axe get together...this will (we hope) bring in a few more people + there are plenty of tables there!

But Monterey would be good too!

Like me, you have been on these forums for quite some time. I hadn'trealized you amased such a large collection! I just love the Svante; what an elegant beast it is! Thanks fo rsharing the photos.

Nathan, did you say that schiavona is going to you? I'm envious. You now may have the most impressive replica schiavona collection in the world.

All of Eljay's antiques are most impressive. I especially like the one on the edge of the blanket - not sure what it is, maybe a German baskethilt?

But I am lucky to say that Eljay is in my neck of the woods this week, and he will be stopping by in a an hour or so to (finally) meet :-) I've had the pleasure of talking on the phone with him before but there is nothing like the old face to face when discussing & showing swords, 'eh ! (which reminds me .... it's time to start pulling the E.B's & VE's out of the gun safes so he can play ;-) Not sure if he'll have any pieces in tow (sure would like to see that schiavona of Nathans), but I'm sure we'll have plenty of toys here to play with !

I'll be sure to get a few snaps of the action (only wish the weather wasn't soooo humid & sticky today :-)
