Maybe I'm not seeing it properly Rod, but it looks like a fairly plain Brazil Nut pommel to me.
Re
True, but it has markings and a slight shaping like a vestigial trilobate.
Rod.
I honestly can't tell what it is. It might be a type m.
Not a great drawing, but perhaps Wheeler's type VII ?

Is this a rare pommel type, or is there some particular significance to it? I'm guessing that perhaps the 13th century is rather late for it to be found in art?
re:
I don't know.
Rod.
I just looks like a fancy Brazil Nut pommel. The 13th century might be on the late side, but it's possible I suppose. We have holdover lobated Viking-style pommels still showing up in areas of Britain at that time, too.
