Hey everybody,

Here is an anglo saxon styled seax inspired by originals pulled from the Thames. The blade is 12" with an edge of W1, and cores of 1095 and 15n20. The handle is water buffalo horn, silver, mastodon bone and steel, with a mastodon one buttcap with silver pins.



This one was made for a customer that owns another seax of mine, som it's not available. Just thought you all might like to see it :)

Agreed! And the mix of shades from the combination of handle materials suits my tastes, as well.

This is a fantastic piece. I love the way the pattern begins as a series of parallel lines that lead into the twists. Many thanks for the close up shots too - we so often see beautiful pattern-welding depicted in photos that don't do justice to the depth of activity in the steel; and it's a joy to see those subtle ripples that surround the areas of higher contrast. Wonderful stuff.

Here's the sheath. It's got a carved/embossed motif inspired by a design on a mid tenth century manuscript.

Wow! This is perfect! Wouldn't mind a seax like that, even without the pattern weldng. I just love the shape and the proportions of this piece, and the scabbard also looks great!
