I have two back-orders to finally finish, a few pices to mount-up and get back to customers, then yeah, among other things, there is gonna be a couple of longswords. I never liked em much till I started hanging out with Peter Johnsson... damn him...

So that´s how they turned out.
I remember the long-seax very well from my last visit. Nice touch with that clean maple grip. Matches the forged texture in the blade beautifully.
...A black whish is that they are still around in february, so I can see them :D

Neat stuff, Randal. Love the very clean lines to it all. I've been thinking of something similar to the longsax form myself. Just with maybe a touch of curvature in the blade. Curly maple and probably brass or bronze fittings, just enough width to make a proto guard to keep the hands off of the blade. Oooo.. Getting that itch to get to the forge again. Need to buy some steel yet, though, so I can play with that temperline thing. :)

Scott, I used W-1 for those pieces, there would have been a hamon there somewhere on wide blades like that no matter if I wanted them or not, cause it's a nice shallow-hardening steel, makes um just the way they likely really were, hard edge, kinda hard jacket, nice soft chewy insides :0)

The seax has been really getting under my skin lately, gonna have to do some more yet I think. God, do they EVER cut...
