Can anyone recommend any books that contain both information and pictures / illustrations on the following spears and lances?
I'm looking for a book(s) that deals with the weapons only (dimensions, head characteristics, what they were made from etc) including illustrations showing the head, shaft and butt.
1) Greek / Roman and their enemies:
Aclys (Aclis), Angon, Doru, Enchos, Falarica (Phalarica), Framea (Framm / Framée), Frankon (Franka), Gaesum, Grosphus, Hasta, Jaculum, Kontos, Lancea, Madaris (Matara), Palton, Various types of Pilums, Saunion, Soliferrum, Spiculum, Tirad (Mitrad), Tragula (Tragolas), Verutum, Xyston etc
2) Indian / Persian / Islamic:
Barchha, Harba, Jarid (Djerid), Kabarbara, Karpa Barchha, Qantariya, Rumh, Sinan, Zurpin (Zhupin) etc
3) Dark Ages / Medieval:
Anglo-Saxon spears (Aesc / Gâr), Viking spears (Geirr / Spjót / Snarspjót), Lugged / Winged spears, Norman spears / lances, couched war lances, Demilances, Gialda (Italian lance), Irish spears (Craoseach / Craoiseach), Folding Spears, Lancegay (Archegay) etc
4) All the various kinds of Japanese Yari
Thanks
Danny
Swanton's, The Spearheads of the Anglo Saxon-Settlement is useful and can be picked up quite cheaply on ABE.

Gournay II: Boucliers et Lances Depots et Trophees, Rapin and Brunaux
Guerre et Armement chez les Gaulois, Brunaux and Lambot
Unfortunatly there booth in the France language, but the many pictures do tell a lot them self...
