I don't think anyone could spend that much time around so many sharp and pointies and eventually not want to try their hand at it. Jason has been taking some of his free time on the weekends to show me the ropes. Had some talks with Jody as well about it. I have been wanting to try this for a while and finally am able to get a little free times on the weekends to give it a whirl. Going to be starting another one shortly I hope.

Nice knife, no need for qualifiers like " for a first knife " ;) :lol:

Very nice flowing lines going from convex to concave it just feels right ! The only thing I might change, very slightly, are the bevels of the false edge which may just be hard to see at the angle of the photograph: Even if not sharpened I personally like the look of a false edge bevel.

But that is just design nit picking on my part :p :lol:

The blade is made out of 6150 and the wood is curly cherry. Thickness is 1/4" at the spine, blade length is 7 1/2" and the overall is 12".

I just love Bowie's and that is why I went with a Bowie as my first knife.

Bonus points for the hollow grind :D

Here's two in my collection from South of the Big River. Brass hiltwork, bone grips, the big one is just shy of 14" overall, the little one is 12" even, your guess on vintage is as good as mine. They feel nice in the hand, the big one with a little blade presence and the small one balanced closer to the hilt and very quick. Maybe not the best pieces in the world, but something about them just clicked with me; I probably should have passed them along a long time ago but for some reason they just keep sticking with me. . .
