I've heard from anonymous scources that Albion will be offering a recreation of the Turin St. Maurice sword. That was quite a while ago so things may have changed but I've been waiting for a good version of that sword for a long, long time.

I have Peter's drawing of it hanging on the wall opposite my desk and often stare at it... to me, it has always been the quintessential Medieval Knightly sword...

And it is the first of the next three Museum Line swords we are are doing.... We should have something to show by Peter's next visit in February...

Peter shared some sketches of the Turin StM a while ago, and I think people will be startled how the Brazil-nut pommel really looks. All we've seen have been en face pics and the DT 2130, which doesn't capture the look of the original as well as one could wish. I'm confident that PJ's documentation of the original and the skill of the crew at Albion will bring out a truly amazing sword.

That's awesome, Howy. I will definitely have to get that sword when it comes out. It's one of my favorite swords of all time. Time to start saving for my St. Maurice! Of course, if I buy the St. Maurice Turin model I'll just have to get the Vienna St. Maurice sword from Arms & Armor to go with it. :D

I've been thinking that the NG Gaddhjalt bears more than a passing resemblance to the Vienna St. Maurice. The Vienna is longer in the blade by an inch and seems to have a plumper pommel (not to mention the wire-wrapped grip and engraving) but overall the look is very similar. I think that if the NG Gaddhjalt were offered with a wire-wrapped grip as an extra-cost option, the effect would be quite striking. *cough*shameless plug*cough*
