Just noticed that Barta has another sword up on his website... thought you might like to take a look.

It is a reconstruction of the gold hilted Blucina Sword.

A week or two ago I was sent photos of this sword. I haven't stopped looking at them since. Patrick continues to impress. I also have a feeling that my commission with him will be more expensive than I had originally planned. :D

Kirk's use of the word "Magic" to describe Barta's work is very apt. Wow.

Can I just dribble a bit.........I've seen the Sutton Hoo sword in the British Museum and that is just a thing of beauty

If I didn't have a commission coming up from Kevin Cashen, I'd be contacting Patrick right now. His stuff always amazes me.

Boy that is one nice sword. :D I'm not a big fan of spathas really, and not that this one makes me change my mind, but it is swords like this, produced by incredible smiths like Barta, which we can all appreciate for the true works of beauty and art that they really are. The fact that is it also a useable item is what makes it even better. Swordfighting may be bloody but as far as it is an athletic achievement, there is not only beauty in the sword but also the swordsmanship. I can't think of anything else which blends form and function so well as swords and swordsmanship.

I love this hobby. :)

After everything I've read on Patrick Barta, and after all the pictures I've seen of his work, when I read gold hilted, all I could think was: Not gold hilted........

And then I saw the pictures.

That's is truly amazing.

Last day I visited a secondhand bookstore in my town.
There I looked into German booklet from the "Historische Museen der Stadt Köln"
And I found some pictures that made me think of this new Patrick Barta "reproduktion"

I thought you guys would like to see these pictures also... ;)
