I've been very impressed by the great photos of beautiful small swords in the forum and the review of the G. Gedney Godwin small sword. I really like the blade design, of the GGG sword in particular. So, I ordered one. I'm overall pleased, the review was spot-on, but I'm a bit disapointed, or at least surprized, by the design of the point. I'm hopeful that the folks here can advise me.

I don't have a digital camera so I'll try to describe it as best I can. The blade has a strong ridge on one side and, after the wide forte, a central fuller on the other. So, for much of it's length, the blade has a cross section sorta like a 'V' channel. At the point I expected the fuller to stop, giving a solid triangular point a bit like that of a stilletto. Instead the point is rather blunt, and also has a V channel cross section. If it made a hole in, say, a cardboard box it would leave a 'V' shaped hole. The point is actually just slightly off-center of the plane of the blade, as it's at the 'top' of the V channel (I hope this all makes sense...).

So, for those who also own G. Gedney Godwin small swords: is your's like mine? Or did I just get an atypical point? Is this a common design for a small sword point?

Just trying to educate myself before contacting the fine folks at GGG, if I even need to.

I went back to the Review and re-read it and looked at all the photos again and in the bottom photo where it is being held in the gloved hand and the whole blade is visible it appears that the V- channel on the review sword extends fully to the tip as well.

Kind of hard to be certain having never seen this sword in person but that is what i gather from just looking at the photo.

I am sure that Stephan Fisher will be able to clear this up for you.
