Greetings!

have anyone seen this mark yet? It is of silver inlay and depicts a key (I guess).
I think the sword is mid 14th century, but am not so sure (maybe a bit later or earlier?)

Would be great if someone could help.

I don't know, but something about it reminds me of some symbols that Oakeshott described in 'Sword in Hand'. If memory serves, those were associated with Italian city-states in the empire. Unfortunately my copy is stored away somewhere.

BTW, that's a nice sword, similar to XIIIa.11 in Records, located in Glasgow. Where did you find it?

the sword was reportedly found in the 19th century very likely in southeast Bavaria, near the todays Austrian border. There are some similar pommels recorded in South Tyrol (s
attached fresco from beginning 15th century). Othe than Oakeshotts dating of this specimen, I assume it is around 1400.
