DIY: Fantasy sword build
This fantasy-style project started with a bare blade purchased from a forumite. The blade has a cool patterned core that you can see in some pics. Fittings are wrought iron, heavily etched for an ancient look and then browned. Very pleased with the textures that came out on the guard especially. The pommel piece split while shaping, a weld fail, so I built in the bronze spacer. Made this by stock removal. Had to do some fussy pinning and other fiddly steps to get it right. :O. These maneuvers just about doubled the total build time lol. Scabbard build by carving out two slats, turned out great and very slim and more peaceful process than veneer core builds Ive done. Added a bronze ring to the scabbard, stock removal again, to get cohesive design. Minimalist decoration for the scabbard just texturizing to fit other visual themes.

I hope you like it!

That looks great. I really like the double fuller, and the finish on the hilt pieces adds a lot of character. Very unique looking sword!

Thanks Ryan!
It's the legendary Viking longsword!

The etching and browning is very interesting; it makes it look like those parts were dug out of the ground or languishing in a forgotten armory for ages.
