If you guys could have any original antique "dream" sword. What would it be?

This sword couldn't be sold. Just sits in your family for generations

Altough this sword is so frequently recreated in low end factories and most people have seen the toleto style sword. The original stands out being one of the best swords.
It's transitioning from the medieval sword to more Renaissance
I love the provenance. The inlay on the hilt.. forget about it!!!

The Turin Sword of St. Maurice would be my pick. Doubt the museum will let me have it, however.

I'm pretty sure I'd inevitably end up accidentaly harming it one way or another. So to damage control I'd want something that really wouldn't be missed, like an original Napoleonic/Early-19thC French/Continental Briquet Type Sword

Well, since this is purely an imaginary exercise, why not think really big. I would chose the Coronation Sword of the Holy Roman Empire that is displayed in the treasury at the Hofburg Place in Vienna. It is a beautifully preserved early Germanic sword with a brazil nut pommel, gold plated hilt and an amazing scabbard of repousse gold icons. I like the inscription on the guard as well. Realistically however, I will content myself with the splendid copy with gold plated pommel and guard, that I bought from Arms and Armor, many years ago. Pictures of it are legion on the internet, so I did not perform the cyberspace gymnastics required to post one here.

I’ve loved the sword of Mehmet the Conqueror since I saw it when the Topkapi Palace exhibit was on tour in the early 90s. I’m not usually into this type of sword but it’s absolutely beautiful, the perfection of form is amazing when seen in person.

I wouldn't mind a simple, silver encrusted English sword of the early 1600s. See photo.
Otherwise, a 1788 Pattern Heavy Cavalry officer's sword would be OK with me!

Of course, if I actually owned it I would eventually sell it to my local museum for everyone to study and enjoy. I said sell, not donate; I'm not that rich or altruistic!

... unfortunately, all my research has still to give me a clear about what kind of dagger that might've been. Only that my preference, a bronze proto-akinakes, is very unlikely.

Records XIIIa.14 or the Morgarten sword. One would have to wonder about the stories this blade could tell if every knick on the blade was a swing in combat.

Great choice J.D, that is probably my favorite Type XII sword. Great lines and size to the blade and just an overall good looking sword.

There is a sword from the second half of the 17th century,a continental campaign sword with pierced side rings. I had A&A make a custom version of it, but I would love to have the original, one of the most beautiful swords ever made.
