Tried my hand at getting some shots of my work in progress kit today, didn't turn out perfect but figure I'll show them anyway.

I'm not a reenactor, so it won't be perfectly within any period but I'm trying to get a end of 14th to mid 15th century look, any tips or ideas would of course be appreciated!

Should get some armor pieces around may so I'm excited about that.

Thats a pretty good start I think. If you added a kettle hat and a short sleeved maille shirt to that kit you would fit into any decent reenacter event. You could also consider dropping the belt pouch while wearing figting kit. It is very rarely pictured in a military context. The hood is a nice detail. Are the upcoming armour parts for fighting or just for showing off? I often find that a simple, low status kit that is carefully put together is way more impressive than a sloppy full armour ;-)

Its a nice looking kit. Did you make the gambeson yourself?

This one is my entire family in armour. I made all my daughter's armour, my wife's cuirass and greaves, and several elements of my own harness (pauldrons, tassets, etc) while the rest was made by other US armourers, notably Patrick Thaden.

Two kits coming along. Finished a very basic off the shelf kit for 15th century reenactment but also recently got my hands on a new byrnie for what will be a far more accurate 10th century Anglo-Saxon kit. My plans going forward are to start making some softs for my Anglo-Saxon kit, as well as slowly accumulating some mid-grade made-to-measure plate armour for my 15th century kit. Recently ordered a new sallet made, plan to get the rest of the parts mostly from bestarmour and Kovex Ars. The plate armour I show here really is far from a final (or historically accurate) look but I'm really happy to have got it to where it is.

Hi everybody! I've been reading through this thread and I just love it. Does anybody have any advice on choosing your "impression" or persona. I'm doing 15th century, but have been keeping the armour style basically neutral (neither gothic nor italian, etc.) Because I dont know which country I want to do. I want to do a heavy infantry commander. Any armies that come to mind with non-noble heavy infantry commanders in 15th c? I also love greatswords/2 handers but I'd be willing to put getting one of those off for a more complete impression.

Okay, so I've continued to do a lot of research and I've decided on wars of the roses era english armour. Does anyone have any first-hand account resources for how the different classes were armed at this time such as a muster roll or statement of law about armour to income ratios? I'm having a hard time finding threads that deal with this so links would be greatly appreciated. :)
