Hello, i have inherited a very old sword from my father and his and so on. i have many pictures and have been able to find a few things, but am interested in more and its potential value.
What i Know:
Ferdinand Muhm- Prussian Epee?. Manufacturer engraved: Court supplier (Ferdinand) Muhm Berlin, blade with etched trademark on both sides and a heraldry on the pommel nut.
another one of his swords here half way down.
www.mw-blankwaffen.de/informatives-zu-blankwa...ch-rapier/
and here
www.kunstantikundmehr.de/militaria11.html
2nd part of the inscription reads-
Schwertfeger Meister: a master craftsman responsible for carrying out the fine work on rawly forged swords.
the other side of the blade has an inscription, hard to make out the first part but ends in
N. 8 in Berlin(See attached photos)

Welcome aboard
I tend to view similar swords as items of interest but that suffer in value due to condition. Something missing in your photos are overall photos of the sword, which might be the best judge of value. Even then, one is left with comparing sold prices of the most similar examples.
What i can judge of the condition would indicate the value is of the story itself. The overall physical condition appears only fair. Determining the coat of arms might link an individual and then might afford a larger picture behind the sword. It is not the more common type of a civilian degen but does appear to be a dress sword.
There are German based forums and also some interests on other boards such as

Good luck

It says Königstraße N. 8 in Berlin, which is great, as it really helps to pin down the date. Looking at these old annual Berlin street directories, Muhm is listed at this address from the 1831 edition to the 1841 edition, inclusive. Before and after that date he was at different addresses.

Yes. Unfortunately, still telling us nothing about the original owner of the sword and indeed, still lacking in information without overall images, dimensions, etc. The scabbards being mostly of leather, early casualties and losses.

Found it is linked to a house called Redern by the inverse crest on the pommel.
