I have seen some new interesting looking models from depeeka lately,
the podlow style spatha
the sutton hoo sword
the fetter lane sword
my impression is that they are not aestetically bad, given the price point, but i have not been able to find an actual review,
do you have experience with them? looks like if they have made an huge effort respect to the their former roman spathas,
a trend that was already started with the feltwell spatha, that if i remenber well, has been rewieved by a forum member and was not too bad
While in profile, a lot of their newer pieces do look better, they still have problems with weight and geometry. Also, the grips tend to be way too long.
I, too, am curious, but not entirely hopeful. Sure, migration-era swords did tend to be blade-heavy, but they were not as blade heavy as some of the Deepeekas tend to be.
By the way, I've already spotted an inaccuracy on the Sutton Hoo: according to some folks who have studied the original, the blade does not actually have a fuller, let alone one as on the Deepeeka...
I'd especially love to see the Podlow sword when it becomes available here...
Anyway, we need more affordable alternatives for migration-era swords on the market. I just wish the Deepeekas handled better.

When you get a Depeeka sword you had better have a good grinder on hand.
