I know that Patrick, Nathan, and others was able to see this sword back at the gathering so I thought that I would post so they would be sure to see how it turned out. I never would have thought that this kind of blade would appeal to me, but from the first time I went to see Rick, this was the blade I would pick up more than any others. I am very happy to see this sword finished, but Rick might have to ship this sword out on a day when I am not around. As far as I know, the sword is still for sale though.

That turned out beautifully, really nice. Ricks work really impressed me when I had a chance to inspect some of it first hand. I really can't understand why he hasn't gotten the exposure that some of the other big names have. The guy has some serious talent.
Neat sword. I like it. Ofcourse, I would say that, since I've been toying with that basic idea for some time in my free time sword designing hobby. Glad to see it really does work well as a form.
As for why Rick hasn't gotten more attention, I don't know. I've wondered if it isn't because a lot of his stuff is fantasy inspired... I personally like his style, and wish I were wealthy enough to get something from him. But, as usual...

Yes but...Rick also does some of the nicest and most traditional Japanese swords on the market. Rarely are they monosteel - the majority of his stuff is folded. Rick is obsessive about the details of the sword. If the hamon did not turn out the way he envisioned, he will often reheat-treat the blade.
In my opinion, because Rick is more subdued about his work, he is often overlooked, but I think he is just as good as many of the big hitters out there. Bottom line, when people finally wake up to the kinda work he does, you won't be able to touch his stuff for the price it is at now. So get it at this price while you still can. Again, just my opinion.

Yes, Rick does fantasticly nice looking Japanese style swords, no doubt. In fact, that is usually where I see him mentioned most. The stuff is great, no doubt about it.
No doubt he'll sooner or later get the accolades he deserves and his prices will reflect that. So I agree, best to buy while the getting is good... But I don't have any money.... waaaaaaaa.... :D

Boy don't I know that feeling!!! A lot of people think swordmakers are wealthy, heck I can't even afford the stuff I make. It does, however, beat my previous job any day! :D

Lol... Yeah, I can't afford the price of even the little things I've been playing at, really. Heck, I can barely afford to make them. I couldn't even consider actually paying for a similar thing, and they are already pretty cheap.... Oh, to win the lottery or something. :)

Heh, if it weren't quite so far away, I'd be half tempted to make that trip. I'd love to see the Albion shop someday. But, I'm poor and it is a long way, so ....
