Transport of Crossbows in the Middle Ages?
Okay, I know longbows were transports in bow bags to protect them while on the march. What about crossbows? Were they ever rigged to slings for carriage? Carried in bags? On the supply wagons?

Can someone point me in the right direction?
… in special futerals, probably made of leather - here some examples from the late 15th century:

Outstanding! Thank you!
Or over the shoulder?

See Lazzaro Tavarone's painting at the Palazzo Cattaneo Adorno of Genoese crossbowmen.

Also see detail from Paolo Uccello's Battle of San Romano, in the National Gallery, London.

Crossbowmen marching to battle, from a painting in Ghent, circa 1400.

I can't find a picture of it, but there's a Matthew Paris manuscript which shows crossbowmen carrying their crossbows over their shoulders.

Thanks a lot guys! Yeah, I was specifically looking for storage and transport when a fight isn't imminent.
