So, I have a question: is there any advice in the period manuals on dealing with the opponent taking a thrust, becoming impaled on the blade, and dealing with that scenerio? Humans aren't wild pigs, I don't think they'd ACTIVELY run up the blade to get to you, but at the same time, it was a thing that happened. Any thoughts?

Never attack out of cover, and never drop your cover until the opponent actually stops moving. If you have their weapon under control to begin with, this shouldn't be a problem; if you don't, you have bigger and more immediate problems than this. :)

PS. Also, of course, this is one situation where daggers really come to their own in an offensive role. If you have a dagger in your off-hand and they don't, you're all set; if they have a dagger and you don't, get the hell away from them; if you both have daggers, the whole thing simply turns into a knife fight (unless you get the hell away from them). In getting the hell away, a quick kick at or just above their knee is fairly effective and advised by several period treatises.
