I bought the sword at a Philadelphia auction. The blade on the sword is well made 36" long, good taper, width swells near clipped point. Balance is 5 3/4" from hilt. Has a stamped in marking on guard and scabbard mouth A/57, suggesting an issue troopers sword. The ricasso is stamped "WYATT".
The leather around the scabbard mouth is white buff.
The slotted hilt may date the sword to the 1780's.
I have not seen another. The Royal Armouries are said to have approx. 200 similar swords but I have no way to view them except for flying across the ocean.
I've posted this sword on Richards sword forum and SFI.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this current mystery.
