What would be the armour of a wealthy knight at the last decade of the 13th century? Were transitional armours starting to appear? Do you have iconography, or picture references? I would like to complete a very late 13th century kit for historical reenactment...
Thank you and have a very nice day!
They probably would have had either mail armour from head to toe, or else mail with a simple coat of plates over top. See the statue of St. Maurice, here for the coat of plates: https://blackcentraleurope.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/magdeburg_dom_01.jpg?w=624&h=936 . Some would have also had metal greaves around the knees. Many knights would have had a mail coif with a great helm. The knight might also have worn ailettes. Heater shields were the norm, and by this time they were often relatively small, some not much bigger than a buckler, while others were larger.
Here is an image of a knight fighting what appears to be a dragon that matches well with my description: http://manuscriptminiatures.com/media/manuscr...1028-3.jpg
Search Manuscript Miniatures and Effigies & Brasses for other examples.
