This would likely be a relatively recent invention (17th -18th century?) Machetes aren't swords, of course, and the fighters are unarmoured, but it certainly looks interesting.

Looks scary as all hell. One of my instructors said "the winner of a knife fight is the one who makes it to hospital."

Ah yes, I've seen this video a few months ago. Quite interesting, if a little bit sensationalist and staged. I really liked the part where the westerner goes toe to toe with Papa, looked like the guy had learned some Messer.

Plus, as a linguist I *really* loved the french-english mix pidgin.
