Identification Needed
Hi all. I'm trying to identify two swords that I have inherited. I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction.

First is a Japanese Type 32

I cannot ID the other without seeing the blade but it looks similar to the Swiss Sharpshooter short sword, possibly rehilted (?)

Reckon the second blade is likely to be a dutch klewang: the form with the simple small guard rather than the basket. A brief Google Images search brings up quite a few similar-looking ones, including this page from an SFI post - http://www.swordforum.com/forums/showthread.p...ot-Klewang

Cheers,

Ant
Agreed, second sword is a Dutch klewang. A lot of them were modified by the Japanese and others by cutting off the basket.
Thanks guys.

I can now confirm that the blade of the second sword has Hemburg inscribed in it. No other markings that I can see. So it does appear to be a dutch klewang. I'm a total novice at this and am interested because they were left to me by my Great Uncle. Would I be right in thinking he's unlikely to have used it himself then and it's more likely that it's something he just bought or inherited? As for the second sword, I'm still not sure. There is a number inscribed on the blade but I can't see anything else. Which parts of the sword would I need photograph in more detail to help identify it better?
